The Blackheath Area
Spanning the boroughs of Greenwich and Lewisham, Blackheath is an up-market suburban area which boasts an internationally famous World Heritage site in Blackheath Common.

Public Transport
Blackheath does not have its own tube station, but there is a good main line service from Blackheath Station (Zone 3) with connections to London Bridge and Charing Cross. You can also access Lewisham rail and DLR station from the Blackheath/Lewsham borders.
Shopping and Entertainment
Blackheath Village is the main hub for shopping, with several familiar High Street names and a few designer shops. The nearest major shopping centre with an indoor mall is in Lewisham. There are a number of attractive restaurants and bars around the village centre and Blackheath Halls is a thriving concert hall and theatre. Blackheath Sports and Leisure Club is also a popular local facility.

The Heath itself is central to the identity of the area, and Greenwich Park is within easy walking distance.

Lewisham Council is responsible for all council services and duties, which include Social Services, housing, education and planning. Council tax rates are slightly above the national average and in 2009-10 ranged from £901 for Band A to £2703 for Band H.
