The Greenwich Area

Public Transport

Recent improvements to transport links have made Greenwich a realistic commute to the Isle of Dogs, the City and the West End. The Docklands Light Railway now extends to Greenwich, Deptford Bridge, Elverson Road and Lewisham, and connects to the Jubilee line at Canary Wharf (Zone 2), making the journey time into central London about 20 minutes. Main line trains run every few minutes from Greenwich Station (Zone 3) and will get you to the City in around 15 minutes. There is also a choice of several bus routes.

There is a convenient modern supermarket on Greenwich Peninsula., and Greenwich Village’s many craft, antique and second-hand bookshops are a popular destination with tourists, who are catered for by an extensive selection of restaurants and bars. Greenwich Theatre offers an exciting year-round calendar of classic plays, musical shows, comedy and children’s theatre.

Green Spaces

Greenwich Park offers panoramic views of the City from the top of the hill near the Royal Observatory.

Greenwich Council is responsible for all local services, which include Social Services, housing, education and planning.
